I began teaching 3^rd grade at Southwest in August of 2009 and taught until May of 2013. I took a year off from teaching to stay home with my daughter and returned in August of 2014 as the coordinator of the Parent Education Program for Clinton Public Schools and remained in that position two years. I returned to the classroom in August 2016 teaching 2^nd grade. I was able to loop up with my 2^nd grade class to 3^rd grade. This year I am returning as a 3^rd grade teacher.

I began my teaching career in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In October of 2001 I married Carlos Rivas and we lived in Tulsa Oklahoma. While there, Garrett (16), Grace (17), and Sooner (dog) joined our family. We moved back to Clinton in July of 2008. In August of 2012 Gwynn (6) completed our family.  Carlos is employed with Security Services, Garrett is a junior and a guitarist, Grace is in 6th grade and is a junior black belt in karate, and Gwynn will be in 2nd and gymnastics this year. 

When I am not teaching I help with childrens ministry and the Praise team at Southwestern Christian Church. I also like to read whenever I can find a spare moment and love, love, love naps.
