Dear Families:

            My name is John Fowler and I teach fourth grade at Southwest Elementary School. I am very excited to meet you and your child. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I grew up in Carnegie, Oklahoma and moved to Weatherford in 1996, where I still reside. I received an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Redland’s Community College in El Reno and began a law enforcement career.  I spent 10 years in law enforcement as a police officer at Southwestern Oklahoma State University Police Department and a correctional officer at Great Plains Correctional Facility. I have always wanted to be a teacher and in 2010 was able to return to college. I received a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2014. I have been married to my wife Jennifer for sixteen years. My hobbies include spending time with my family and traveling around our great state. I am also a fan of great literature as well as great films. I am very excited to get this school year started and begin our adventure together.

            I have created a positive, fun, and exciting classroom that encourages collaborative learning. I have your child’s best interest at heart and I take responsibility to ensure that they receive the highest quality of learning. My goal is to prepare your child for whatever the future may hold by exposing our class to classroom subject knowledge, teaching cognitive and critical thinking skills, teaching important life skills, and fostering curiosity and creativity. I will work diligently to provide each student with all of the tools that they need to be successful and will provide many variations of teaching to address the learning needs of all students in our class. We will engage in hands-on creative learning activities that may incorporate music, art, film, food, health, and exercise with our content area material into our daily lessons. With hard work and teamwork I am confident that we can meet all of the goals set for this school year.
