2nd Grade Teacher
I graduated from Clinton High School in 1998.
In December of 2008 I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University in Talequah/Broken Arrow Oklahoma.
I also earned my teaching certificate in December of 2008 and I am certified to teach Early Childhood, Elementary Education, and Middle Level Social Studies.
I began teaching 3rd grade at Southwest in August of 2008 and taught until May of 2013. I took a year off from teaching to stay home with my daughter and returned in August of 2014 as the coordinator of the Parent Education Program for Clinton Public Schools and have remained in that position for the past two years. This is my first to teach second grade.
In October of 2001 I married Carlos Rivas and we lived in Tulsa Oklahoma. While there, Garrett (13), Grace (8), and Sooner (dog) joined our family. We moved back to Clinton in July of 2008. In August of 2012 Gwynn (3) completed our family. Carlos is employed with Security Services, Garrett is in 8th grade and a guitarist, Grace is in 3rd grade and is an orange belt in karate, and Gwynn will begin Pre-K and soccer this year.
When I am not teaching I help with childrens ministry and the Praise team at Southwestern Christian Church. I also like to read whenever I can find a spare moment and will begin coaching Gwynn in soccer this fall.
