About Becky Nickel

I will provide a positive learning environment for my students.

I will use positive reinforcement and encouragement to provide my students the opportunity to reach their full potential.

I love working with my students.  I believe in having so much fun the students do not realize they are learning their math and reading skills

I was born, raised and graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Texas.

Yes I'm a born and bred Texan.  After high school I spent four years at where I graduated with a BA in Early Childhood/Elementary Degree.

I taught 6th grade and kindergarten at Clayton, New Mexico, then a 1st/2nd grade at Briscoe, Texas.

Then 36 years ago the oil boom brought my 5 year old son and I to Arapaho, OKlahoma. It must have been the Oklahoma water but within the first two years in Oklahoma, I gave birth to two Okies another son and lovely daughter.  It was then I decided to be a stay at home mom and opened up my own home daycare.

I went back to college after they were in school at so I could teach in this fair state of Oklahoma.

While attending SWOSU I worked at as a night time manger and also worked at Washington Elementary as a paraprofessional till I was offered the wonderful job as a special ed teacher at Southwest.
